This September, Printemps Doha will host the Tiara of Princess Charlene of Monaco, in collaboration with Maison Bäumer Vendôme, during a month-long exclusive display open to the public.
It is the first time ever that the Palace of Monaco agrees to lend Princess Charlene’s spectacular Écume de Diamants tiara, worn during her celebrated wedding to Prince Albert II de Monaco in July 2011.
That same year, Lorenz Bäumer, the last independent fine jewelry designer in Paris’ Place Vendôme (France), had the honor of being chosen as the personal jeweler of Princess Charlene of Monaco for her wedding to to Prince Albert II. Among several proposals, the tiara, named “Écume de Diamants”, was the one to win the Princess’ heart.
The exceptional white gold tiara is the result of 400 hours of painstaking and meticulous work and demonstrates an impressive technical know-how fit for royal nuptials. A unique jewel fashioned in the image of the elegant princess, it is composed of 16.57 cts of round diamonds, 14.46 cts of baguette diamonds, 28 carats of pear-shaped diamonds, and polished white gold for a mirror effect that will capture the light and recalls the movement of the waves, a common passion of the Princess and Lorenz Bäume.
In addition, the creativity of Lorenz Bäumer, an engineer by training, was pushed to its climax by making this modern tiara a versatile ornament that can be worn as a tiara, but also as a hair jewel or broach for everyday wear, thanks to a clever mechanism.
Although “l’ Écume de Diamants” is more difficult to fix than a classic tiara, Lorenz Bäumer knew how to take up the challenge with his audacious choice which was greatly appreciated by the royal family of Monaco and received rare reviews beyond European borders.
“L’ Écume de Diamants” exhibition will run throughout the month of September in the boutique of Bäumer Vendôme, located on the ground floor of Printemps Doha’s Fine Jewelry & Watches department.
