We are grateful for the valued time, knowledge and wisdom of Anna Schürrle ( Author, Nutritionist, Truthseeker Philanthropist, Chef, Speaker, Mom, Wife & Top Fashion Contributor) to share her journey with the latest nutritional trend in the world now of recent and that is
MATCHA.
The latest health supplement trending now of recent is Matcha which has been discovered for the phenomenal nutritional benefits, addictive taste (in a good way) and multi use in drinks, smoothies and cakes.
As always, the western world only discovered Matcha recently though it has been transforming souls in Japan for many decades now.
What really is Matcha?
Matcha was first founded in Japan hundreds of years ago and as always, the western world only took to it now of recent. Match plant is initially harvested by the removal of its stems while still fresh to the drying process. The removal of the stems is to harness the fresh Flavours and antioxidants that are present at this stage.
After the drying process, the leaves are separated from the stem while all the veins are removed that leaves us with the process to powdering.
Where did Matcha start?
The start of Matcha popularity gained momentum after a group of Buddhist
Monks consumed it while practicing mediation. They found their concentration and energies were preserved much longer. This obviously led to the commercialization of the leaf to tea and we all know how the Chinese loves tea.
What is the reason why the world is going crazy on matcha?
Matcha’s popularity goes beyond being a trend, as its health benefits, including antioxidants and sustained energy, have been appreciated for centuries, making it a timeless superfood rather than a passing hype.
What are the health benefits of Matcha?
As we all know by now, Matcha is packed with antioxidants, boosts metabolism, supports calm focus, and promotes heart and brain health. Adding to this, Matcha is rich in chlorophyll, which helps detoxify the skin and promote a natural glow, thanks to its ability to fight inflammation and support overall skin health.
Though there are scientific evidence that supports the nutritional values Matcha brings, reducing hunger cravings, balancing out metabolism, we have to encourage you to be mindful of the level of consumption as various people have different reactions to the caffeine content in Matcha.
Caffeine in matcha and coffee differs in several ways, including its source, content, and effects on the body. Though on average, matcha contains about 70 mg of caffeine per 8-ounce serving, whereas a typical cup of brewed coffee can contain 95 to 200 mg, depending on the brewing method and coffee type.
On research I discovered that the caffeine in matcha is combined with L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation without drowsiness. This combination leads to a more gradual release of caffeine, providing a sustained energy boost without the jitters often associated with coffee.
Overall, the choice between matcha and coffee can depend on personal preference, desired effects, and health considerations.
When and where did your journey with Matcha start?
Certainly!
Here’s a smoother version:
During my younger years as a flight attendant, I often found myself in Tokyo, and I suppose it’s true that our energy flows where our attention go’s. At that stage of my life, I discovered the most delicate, authentic matcha and often use to think about it and wonder why the world didn’t share my appreciation of the teas.
This soon became my little ritual, a life habit that soon to become a lifestyle choice. Matcha also kept me energized for those long evening flights, while sharing the values I experienced not only with my family and friends, also with my colleagues and at times with passengers on the various flights. It further seems to have great health benefits through my pregnancy with both our beautfiul children, would certainly recommend all Moms-to-be to add Matcha to their nutritional intake during their pre-birth and after birth.
Back then, finding high-quality matcha back home in Berlin was almost impossible. However now, fast forward 15 years later, I’m thrilled to see so many exceptional options available. Matcha has become an integral part of my mornings—a calming ritual that feels like meditation, setting the tone for the rest of my day.
My passion for Matcha and healthy cooking merged when I recently in Germany launched my company mobile application. I love experimenting with matcha in my kitchen, creating recipes, and sharing this passion with my community through my recipe app:
