AUDEMARS PIGUET UNVEILS A NEW GEM-SET VERSION OF THE ROYAL OAK SELFWINDING

The Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet is pleased to unveil a new gem-set version of its 41 mm Royal Oak model encompassing both brilliant-cut diamonds and orange sapphires. In order to bring this model to fruition Audemars Piguet has utilised the know-how and talents of both craftspeople and watchmakers alike, perpetuating the Manufacture’s reputation for uncompromising craftsmanship.

The 18-carat pink gold diamond-set case features 138 brilliant-cut diamonds (〜2.62 carats). The matching bracelet is embellished with a further 472 brilliant-cut diamonds (〜4.62 carats). In addition, the dial incorporates 466 brilliant cut orange sapphires (〜3.18 carats), with 11 different shades from dark in the centre to pale near the periphery and a seamless transition in tone.

This model also features pink gold applied hour-markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating. A slender centre seconds hand along with a date indication adjacent the crown completes the inventory of functions.

At the heart of this watch is the Manufacture’s latest selfwinding movement, calibre 4302, visible via the glareproofed sapphire caseback. This movement is equipped with an openworked 22-carat

pink gold oscillating weight, harnessing the motion of the wearer’s wrist to power the watch. The movement embraces hand-finishing, typical of Haute Horlogerie.

This gem-set version of the Royal Oak unites precious stones and fine watchmaking in a free-spirited design which encompasses the many skills practised in Le Brassus.
