The Hour & Hour program, in collaboration with the Qatar Cancer Society, the Women’s Police Institute, and the Primary Health Care Corporation, organized a breast cancer awareness event during Pink October. At the event, held under the slogan “A Window of Hope,” the program announced that this slogan would be adopted for future health-focused events.
In this regard, Mrs. Tamani Al-Yafeai, CEO of Hour & Hour, emphasized that the program aims to be present in all cultural, social, national, religious, sports, and health occasions. She stated that the goal of this event is to raise awareness about women’s health, focusing particularly on breast cancer, the importance of early detection, and prevention methods.
Mrs. Tamani described the event, which was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Jabr Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Cancer Society, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Qatar. It began with recitations from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem performed by students from Al-Khor Model School for Boys. The event honored partners, especially the Qatar Media Center.
The event also included an awareness discussion session titled “Hope Session,” attended by Lt. Col. Kholoud Anbar Al-Nuaimi, Director of the Women’s Police Institute representing the Police Academy, and a representative from the Primary Health Care Corporation Dr. Mohsen Al-Mismar., Ms. Aisha Al-Tamimi. The session, moderated by Fatima Al-Ahmad, covered key topics aimed at educating women on the necessity of early breast cancer screening and provided useful information for women. Ms. Aisha Al-Tamimi shared her experience with the illness, discussing her treatment journey and the challenges she faced.
The event featured an accompanying exhibition showcasing photographs and artworks by female artists who have survived cancer, as a source of inspiration to encourage women to believe that recovery is possible and overcoming the disease is achievable. This exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Dominican Republic Embassy, which displayed exclusive items brought specifically from the Dominican Republic for the event.
The exhibition included artistic and handmade works by recovered women, with contributions from Al-Khor Model School for Boys and Al-Dakhira Primary School for Girls, whose artwork was displayed. Additionally, there was an Arabic calligraphy section and a photo corner to capture memories of the event.
The event was attended by representatives from various foreign embassies in Doha, businesswomen, media personalities, and civil society figures.
The CEO of Hour & Hour program highlighted the program’s ongoing activities and events. She praised the significant role played by His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Jabr Al Thani in the event’s success and acknowledged the valuable contribution of the Qatar Cancer Society, as well as the cooperation with the Dominican Republic Embassy in Doha.
