“Hour and Hour” Launches Fifth Edition of “Tourist Destinations” in Celebration of World Youth Skills Day

A Summer Experience Combining Skill Development, Entertainment, and Exploring Tourist Destinations in Qatar

The “Hour and Hour” program, in collaboration with the Waldorf Astoria Doha – West Bay and Perf Ab Center, organized the “Tourist Destinations – Fifth Edition” event, celebrating World Youth Skills Day. The event saw the participation of students aged 15 to 18 in a summer experience that blended entertainment, skill development, hands-on practice, and exploration of tourist destinations across the State of Qatar.

The event was held from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Waldorf Astoria Doha – West Bay and featured a variety of activities and interactive experiences tailored to the age group. The aim was to give young people the opportunity to try new experiences, develop communication, leadership, and teamwork skills, while also fostering a spirit of initiative and participation.

The event kicked off with participant reception and introductions, before moving on to a series of skill challenges and group games that combined movement, competition, and team spirit, along with fun contests and prizes for participants.

The event also included an interactive cooking experience with the chef, where participants learned the basics of seafood preparation in an experience that blended learning, hands-on application, and friendly competition.

The program also featured a range of water activities, swimming, and recreational games supervised by a specialized team, adding a lively summer atmosphere that combined activity and enjoyment.

Local Tourism in an Interactive Experience

On the tourism front, the event included an interactive session on the best tourist destinations in the State of Qatar, introducing participants to a number of places and experiences they can explore and visit. This aimed to enhance young people’s interest in domestic tourism and encourage them to discover Qatar’s diverse attractions.

The program concluded with an interactive quiz about tourism in Qatar, alongside a number of side activities, including a summer photo booth, quick challenges, instant competitions, gifts and raffle draws, and a sportswear corner.

An Experience Beyond Entertainment

Ms. Tamani Al-Yafei, social activist and CEO of the “Hour and Hour” program, emphasized:

“In the fifth edition of ‘Tourist Destinations,’ we were keen to offer young people a different summer experience that goes beyond entertainment to combine skill development, hands-on practice, and exploration of Qatar’s tourist destinations. We believe that young people learn best when they experience things for themselves, through participation, challenges, teamwork, and discovering their abilities in a positive and enjoyable atmosphere.”

Al-Yafei added:

“The event coincides with World Youth Skills Day, which reflects our commitment to providing spaces that help young people develop communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, while also encouraging them to discover their homeland and learn about the destinations and experiences that distinguish the State of Qatar. We also value our partnership with the Waldorf Astoria Doha – West Bay, which contributed to delivering an integrated experience combining hospitality, entertainment, and skill development.”

Mr. Abdullah Al-Zoubi, Commercial Director of Waldorf Astoria Doha – West Bay, said:

“We are delighted at Waldorf Astoria Doha – West Bay to be part of the fifth edition of the ‘Tourist Destinations’ event under the ‘Hour and Hour’ program, celebrating World Youth Day, and to contribute to supporting Qatar’s tourism and hospitality sectors, enhancing its position as a leading global destination that attracts visitors from around the world.”
