Porsche Centre Doha installs EV charging at Ooredoo premises

In keeping with Qatar’s mandate to reduce CO2 emissions and push for greater sustainability, Porsche Centre Doha, Al Boraq Automobiles Co. w.l.l., continues its roll-out of electric vehicle charging stations by partnering with leading international communications company Ooredoo to install Porsche Destination Chargers at its locations.

At the company’s main office, the HQ1 Tower in West Bay, two 11 kW AC chargers have been installed. Three additional locations are set to follow at Ooredoo branches in Wadi al Sail, Al Waab and Abu Hamour.

Salman Jassem Al Darwish, Chairman and CEO of Porsche Centre Doha, said the strategic partnership with Ooredoo is in line with Porsche’s commitment to the future of electromobility and CO2 reduction. He stated: “With the new, all-electric Taycan 4S, Turbo and Turbo S models that are now available to order, Porsche is heavily investing in its E-Performance portfolio and an integral part of that is ensuring our Destination Chargers are accessible to not only owners of Porsche electric and hybrid vehicles, but also to visitors and employees of Ooredoo.”

When equipped with the optional Performance Battery Plus with a capacity of 93.4 kWh, the Taycan 4S offers a range of up to 463 km and delivers 571 PS of power. The flagship Turbo S matches the 911 GT2 RS in acceleration to 100 km/h, taking just 2.8 seconds from its 761 PS. All models can be charged on either side using alternating current (AC) or by using direct current (DC) on the right side.

An official inauguration of the charger took place at Ooredoo’s HQ1 Tower (November 4). The partnership includes the opportunity for customers and potential EV owners to take a Taycan for a test drive and inspect the new charging facility located in the upgraded parking area of the company’s headquarters.

Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Ooredoo’s Chief Operating Officer said the collaboration with Porsche Centre Doha is in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility strategy and commitment to the United Nations Sustainability Goals: “Given this commitment to sustainability is at the core of our operations, it makes sense for us to give our colleagues every opportunity to share this obligation. Helping them travel to and from their workplace via sustainable transport demonstrates our pledge, while being able to offer our customers this charging facility when they visit our premises also adds value.”

With the new installation at Ooredoo’s HQ1 Tower, Porsche Centre Doha is launching its seventh location for Porsche Destination Chargers in the country, ahead of the soon-to-be-launched first fully electric product offering, the Porsche Taycan. The latest introduction is part of a wider plan to provide conveniently located charging points for customers’ peace of mind when choosing one of the plug-in hybrid or electric models.
