An extensive collection designed by New York-based Valani Atelier for Walk for Giants showcases both the label’s high and fine jewellery, while paying homage to the African habitat that the charitable initiative seeks to preserve. Valani has been working with Gemfields, as its supplier of responsibly sourced emeralds and rubies, and global artisans to forge a sustainable path in the jewellery industry.
The pieces in the fine jewellery capsule collection were inspired by the carina nebula constellation visible in the safari sky above Africa. Their intergalactic designs are carved in recycled 18k white and yellow gold and studded with the finest Mozambican rubies and Zambian emeralds from Gemfields. Rings, long and drop earrings and wrist and ear cuffs are at once casual and elegant, evoking the chic aesthetic of an African safari.
A member of the Nest Guild network, Valani Atelier works to bridge the gap between global craftspeople and responsible brands. Valani’s creative director Heena Shah is passionate about responsible sourcing and creating one-of-a-kind pieces in artisanal workshops, always championing sustainable practices. “Collaborating with people around the world to create pieces in a sustainable, equitable way, and using materials responsibly, has been one of the most rewarding opportunities of my career,” she says. “I wanted to find a way to go beyond what is ethical and find ways to sustainably impact livelihoods with contemporary design. It is an honour to be a part of the Walk for Giants collection and to support a conservation organisation that protects the great wildlife landscapes for African Elephants.”
